Was a deck seaman 67 and made it up to the Bridge in 68, made QM3. I've been involved with 24 reunions since 1989. We move the reunions around east of the MS River. We are serious about the 2020 reunion being in Oct. in Portland, ME. Contact me about the next reunion, and purchasing Sylvania shirts and ball caps. Get yours now!! Served 85-89, BT2-BT1 as the Oil King. Best shipboard duty you could ask for as a BT.

91-93 SK3
Loved the ship, and fellow crewmembers. Hated the constant fire drills during med cruises. I think our CO sometimes forgot we were a supply ship.
Anyone know what happened to CDR Skrtich?
Where are all you SK's?

Did anyone see the movie 13 days. It was on the ovations television channel last night. It was about the Cuban missile crisis during the Kennedy administration. The USS Sylvania AFS-2 was in that movie.

Served aboard 72-74 under Capt. Roberts Finest CO and ship I had the privilege to be assigned. Was OI div CPO to radar gang that was cited as "One of The Best" by GTMO observers during '73 REFTRA. Made several Med cruises during tour. Sylvania visited some of the finest liberty ports and served great chow.Loved that many ports visited we moored pier-side. Summation: great ship, great crew, and decidedly greatest tour of duty in my naval career.

RM3 OPS CO: Capt Fitton served aboard from 9/69 to 12/72. Good memories and made some good friends while serving during that time. Enjoyed making radio phone patches for the crew to their families before returning to Norfolk.
